Analysis- Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
Out of the total 200 companies analyzed for the Asia Sustainability Rating™, only 44 companies (20%) use GRI guidelines in their disclosure and reporting and only 23 (12%) disclose a GRI level (A, B or C). 17 companies (9%) have declared that they have based the report on GRI standards but have not registered with GRI.
There is a strong correlation between the ranks in the Asia Sustainability Rating™ and the usage of GRI guidelines. Most of the companies (95%) that use GRI guidelines in their reporting are in top 50 in the rating. Moreover, 95 percent of the companies that disclose a GRI level in their reports are ranked in the top 25. Top 10 companies all use GRI guidelines, 53 percent of which having an A level and 30 percent a B level.
